This is the first in a series of exclusive Medieval Steins, each stein featuring an authentic individual from the historically rich Middle Ages. The focus of this first stein is King Maximilian, the last of the German Knights (March 22, 1459 - January 12, 1519). His titles included Archduke of Austria, German King, and Holy Roman Emperor. Maximilian made his family, the Habsburgs, dominant in 16th Century Europe. He added vast expansions to the Austrian territory, secured the Netherlands by his own marriage, Hungary and Bohemia by treaty and military pressure, and Spain and the Spanish Empire by the marriage of his son Philip. He fought a series of wars against the French. The hand painted porcelain body displays the suit of armor with the old German Kaiser-Double Eagle Coat of Arms on the knight's shield. A stainless steel helmet with brass ornaments and rotating visor is mounted on the pewter lid. A detailed pewter sword is inserted in Maximilian's right hand to complete the design. Limited edition of 5,000 individually numbered pieces.
