Stoneware, raised-relief and transfer decoration. The raised-relief body "Mountain Stream" is also used for this stein. A salamander is seen climbing the rocky bank on the handle. A trout in raised-relief leaping from the raised bottom border with stones and flowing water. A waterfall is seen near the handle. The top raised border is of an evergreen branch with needles and pinecones. The rocky shoreline depicted in the James A. Meger wrap-around scene accurately exemplifies the ideal environment in which loons habitat. We see two adult pair swimming on either side with young chicks in tow. The northern woods forest and tree line of birch and evergreens is clearly depicted as is the pristine clear waters. A hint of mankind is noticed in the background when closely studied, a campsite is revealed on the right side. The pewter lid has a trout embossed in the center and evergreen trees serve as the border decoration. A pewter pine tree is the thumblift. All the raised-relief borders are accented with a cobalt blue glaze in the recesses of the body.
